Goal

This Site is for essays on The New Pulp Heroes. It’s about time we catalog new characters appearing in books and anthologies. Since I do not have time to read everything being published, I will offer space here for legitimate creators of new pulp characters to send me their data, and I will post their essays. It is not my place to say what is, or what is not a new pulp hero, and the only changes I will make to essays will be editing and format. If you wish, include a jpeg of a book cover or b&w illustration if you have permission from the artist. By sending me your essays, you are giving me permission to promote and showcase this data. Essays should be up to 500 words, and include information on MC and back up characters, creator, title of books, and where the stories can be found. A paperback edition is now available for $12.00, plus $3.99 postage (US). The book will only be sold through us: Tom Johnson, 204 W. Custer St., Seymour, TX 76380. Send questions or data to fadingshadows40@gmail.com

Randall Kelt is tall, slender, athletic, his face lean and intent, with features resembling a hawk. His fierce continence was topped with blonde hair and piercing blue eyes. He was a veteran of the Great War, an explorer and world traveler. He has great wealth, and sits on several major boards of corporations.
Lena Morgan is one f Coast City’s society mavens; with brown hair and brown eyes, she is an heiress and socialite – and trusted assistant of The Black Guardian. She also knows his true identity.
Carolyn Karlovich is a leading contract star of Metropolitan Studios. Her gorgeous figure was sheathed in a sea-green dress perfectly matching the color of her eyes. Her long reddish hair hung down upon her shoulders. Wide sensual lips  striking high cheekbones making her an ‘exotic’ among the cavalcade of contemporary film actresses. She suspects the identity of The Black Guardian.
John Banning is the police commissioner.
Lt Bruce Walton, detective with the police force, and aid of The Black Guardian.
Larry ‘Lefty’ Capps was on the wrong side of the law until The Black Guardian took him as an aid, now he works for justice.
Captain McCormick is another police officer.
The Black Guardian wears all black, with a hood that effectively covers him from the head to chin, with slits for his eyes. He wears black gloves and carries two heavy automatics. He also drives a sleek black roadster. His hearing and eyesight is highly enhanced from traveling through the East. He leaves a black coin on those he kills.  The newspapers call it The Coin of Death and  “the wages of Charon.”
There is a radio program called Pages From The Black Book.

In the first story, “Death’s Ghastly Harvest”, The Black Guardian is up against a diabolical killer who hangs his victim. The newspapers dub the killer “The Hangman.” He carries a rope around his body, which he uses to hang his victim. There have only been two stories so far.
